This handsome new book is a tribute to an amazing photographer of the 1920's and 1930's, Frances Benjamin Johnston.
A personal hero of the authors, Ms. Johnston is considered one of the finest female press photographers in the United States. She visited South Carolina at the height of the Great Depression, and took hundreds of photographs of Charleston and surrounding plantations, Georgetown and surrounding plantations, and some beautiful shots of Camden as well.
This new book tells her amazing story and features many, many of the the photos that she captured in our part of the world. Bud Hill says "Miss Johnston was a great influence on me in my early days of picture taking, and still is today."
