This is Dr. Baker's "Student's Treatise on Congestive Fever", as submitted to the dean and faculty of the Medical College of the State of South Carolina. It was his Doctoral Thesis and the year was 1847. It reveals change in the theory and prectice of medicine in that era. Dr. Baker moved his family to a cottage on the South Santee River in the 1850's.
